Silence fills the arena as they await to see what’s up next. Finally sparks start shooting upwards at the top of the ramp, the lights dim as blue and green laser lights ignite the center of the curtain. “You’re Going Down” by Sick Puppies starts blaring. As the chorus sets in, Xavier Cross steps into the arena with a towel draped over his head and shoulders. He stands, motionless at the top of the ramp, before bending down on one knee. He holds his head down, staring at his hands, before popping up and pushing the towel down off his head. His pyro explosion goes off in the background as he starts to make his way down the ramp. Amber Ashe announces the first competitor: “The following match is for the nCw National Championship…….Introducing the challenger…….Hailing from Lexington, Virginia…..Weighing in at two hundred and twenty-seven pounds……’God’s Greatest Gift’….Xavier Cross!” Cross shows virtually no emotion as he walks towards the ring, not acknowledging anyone. He makes a beeline for the steps and bounds up them in a flash before stepping through the ropes and into the ring. XC heads over to the bottom right corner of the ring and bends down in front of it. He mouths something before tossing the towel out to an assistant at ringside and steps up, backing into the corner. Our challenger stands, awaiting the arrival of his opponent.
Eric Hardy: “I honestly can’t believe Xavier Cross is going through with this match after the news her received just days ago.”
Kelly Knite: “Awww….Poor Cross….Yeah right. He’s gotta suck it up and wrestle.”
Eric Hardy: “He’s going into a title match with a heavy heart. You can’t help but feel some sort of pity for him.”
Kelly Knite: “Nope. I’m not a walking, talking, vagina like you though Hardy.”
As the opening drums and guitar play, the arena lights dim and flash slowly red. The titantron shows the silhouette of a woman with her hair blowing across her face and holding a playing card between the forefingers of her right hand, she flips it over in her fingers to reveal the Ace Of Spades, the symbol grows out of the card and gets larger as the opening chords get louder until it envelops the screen. Huge flame pyros explode either side of the ramp bathing the arena in a static red light as cards begin to fall from the rafters. The lyrics to 'Hallowed Be My Name' by Hammerfall begin as The Ace slowly rises out of the centre of the stage with his back to the audience. The circular platform is decorated as a roulette wheel and it slowly spins a one eighty facing The Ace forward. Ashe announces our champion: “From Birmingham, England……Weighing in tonight at two hundred and forty-six pounds….He is your nCw National Champion….The Ace!” He has a small water bottle in his right hand as he steps off the platform and walks through the shower of falling card as the titantron shows Spike Kane and Reckoning receiving Ace-Plants. He gets to the foot of the ramp and the cards stop falling before he enter the ring and walks over to the adjacent turnbuckle, climbing and sitting on it so he can take a sip of water. He spits the water into the air before walking to the center of the ring for the match to begin.
Kelly Knite: “And there’s our nation’s champion….a Brit.”
Eric Hardy: “It’s like the seventeen hundreds all over again with an Englishman holding the belt that symbolizes America. I’m sure Ace takes great enjoyment in that fact.’
Kelly Knite: “No doubt about it. And I like this guy’s style. He’s got a real bad*ass presence.”
Eric Hardy: “Ace is one the hardest hitters in nCw and tonight he takes on a man known for his in-ring prowess. We’re in for a real barn burner tonight.”
Kelly Knite: “Then shut up so we can get to the action.”
The referee checks both men for foreign objects before signaling for the bell to ring. Both competitors move about the ring, each looking to gain the first advantage of the match. Cross sticks his hand out and Ace slaps it, showing that he’s ready for the battle to begin. Cross charges in for a double leg takedown, which Ace blocks to the mat, before maneuvering behind and driving a forearm into Xavier’s neck and shoulder blades. He wrenches Cross’ arm and forces him to his feet. Cross ducks a Hook Kick and connects with a Spinning Back Elbow to the gut of Ace. Ace keels over and Cross drops him with a Sit Out Jawbreaker. He tries to follow up with another Jaw attack by attempting a Camel Clutch, but Ace trips him up by the leg and locks in an Ankle Lock. Cross tries to fight out of the hold, but Ace’s power is controlling the entire body of the challenger. Xavier finally rolls through the hold, sending The Ace crashing into the turnbuckles. XC gets to his feet and as Ace turns around, he is drilled with the Wake Up! Splash. Ace staggers out of the corner and Cross connects with a Jumping Reverse STO. Cross rolls Ace over and goes for a quick pin, but Ace kicks out instantaneously. Cross hops up and looks to hit a Standing Moonsault, as Ace rolls out of the ring and XC connects only with canvas. Ace grabs Cross’ leg and pulls him to the outside before dragging him to the steep steps. He places Cross’ foot against the steel and viciously kicks it, crushing his ankle. The Ace rolls back into the ring to break the count before heading back up and lifting XC to his feet, only to nail him with a sickening Snap DDT.
Eric Hardy: “The thud from that DDT can be heard throughout the arena. Skull crushing for certain.”
Kelly Knite: “Brain hemorrhaging meet Xavier Cross. Cross meet hemorrhaging.”
Eric Hardy: “Ace has such a mean streak. He’s willing to do anything to hold onto that title.”
Ace grabs Cross by his tights and tosses him back in the ring. He shoots the half and goes for the win. 1...2...the challenger gets his shoulder up. Ace uses this against his opponent, grabbing the arm and quickly transitioning into the Fujiwara Armbar by rolling the opponent over. XC desperately tries to get to the ropes as Ace aims to rip his shoulder out of socket. Cross wildly kicks his feet and manages to connect with the ropes, forcing the referee to break the hold. Ace waits until the count hits four to release, and pulls Cross by the injured arm to the center of the ring. He stretches out Cross’ arm before backing up and dropping a Ric Flair Style Knee on it. Ace rolls to his feet and watches as Cross struggles to his knees. He leaps with a Standing Scissors Kick, but misses when Cross dodges it and catches him with a one armed Spinebuster. Favoring his arm, Xavier bounces off the ropes and somersaults into a Rolling Thunder maneuver. Cross hooks the leg. 1.…2. Ace powers out. The challenger goes for the Rivera Cloverleaf, but Ace rolls him into the Small Package. 1.…2.…the surprised opponent kicks out and both men get to a vertical base. Ace throws a strong right hook before sending Cross off the ropes, before being dropped by a Lou Thesz Press and a series of Cross left hands. Cross is really getting fired up and feeding off the energy of the crowd. They clap and stomp in approval as he lifts Ace by the neck and careens up the turnbuckles with the Shiranui, but Ace is ready and ducks out of it. Cross lands on his feet and charges Ace, who awaits his movement, leaping in the air and connecting with a well timed Double Knee Armbreaker on the already impaired right arm. Ace waits near the corner for Cross to get up, feigning injury. XC reaches his feet and notices Ace favoring his sternum and charges the corner with a Spear, but Ace quickly moves out of the way causing him the collide with the ringpost. As he turns around, Ace drills him into the mat with a Spear of his own. He goes for the pin. 1.…2.…Cross gets his foot across the bottom rope breaking the pin attempt. Ace is undeterred as he drags Xavier towards the center of the ring, Cross stunningly kips up to one leg while Ace has control of the other and connects with a Dragon Whip Enzuigiri sending the champion crashing to the mat. Cross capitalizes on the opportunity and clamps on the End Game Cloverleaf! Ace dries with all his formidable power to drag himself and Cross to the ropes to break the hold.
Eric Hardy: “Cross really has the hold locked in tight. Ace’s back has to be killing him.”
Kelly Knite: “He’s in a more painful position than most of Steve Awesome’s sexual partners!”
Eric Hardy: “Is the champion going to tap? Does Xavier Cross have the title in his grasp?”
Kelly Knite: “My guess would be…..nope.”
Ace is unable to make it to the ropes as XC pulls him back to the center of the squared circle. The Ace uses his upper body strength to work his way under Cross and kick him off and into the corner. Xavier walks out holding his back as Ace delivers a face crushing Reversal of Fortune! Ace shoots the half and goes for the cover. 1.….2.….Xavier Cross barely gets his shoulder off the mat. The Ace is seemingly frustrated, but doesn’t lose his cool as he performs a Stomp on Cross’ ankle that the “Nature Boy” would be proud of. He looks over the situation and goes to a move known all around the world for it’s torturous nature, The Seven of Diamonds. XC writhes in pain as The Ace wrenches the leg crushing hold to a bone’s breaking point. With virtually no chance of reaching the ropes, the referee bends down to check for a submission and Ace seizes this opportunity to grab the second rope and apply extra pressure to the hold. As the referee looks up, he sends his arms back down to the mat, masking his misdeeds. The referee checks once again for the tap out and Ace goes back to his grasp on the ring rope. Just as it seems Cross is about to give up, the referee catches the champion going to the well once too often and orders him to break the hold. Ace begrudgingly follows orders, releasing the hold and getting in the face of the referee. As he argues with the official, he stomps down across the arm of “God’s Greatest Gift” who at the moment, doesn’t look so great. Ace rips Cross up from the mat and slaps him around the ring three times total and follows it up with a Swinging Neckbreaker. Ace plays to the crowd a little before heading to the top rope and looking down at his fallen opponent. Cross sits up and Ace comes flying with the Dragon Attack, however Cross rolls out of the way and Ace crashes hard on the mat. Cross bounces off the ropes and connects with a left Shoulder Block to the seated Ace. Both men are up quickly with Cross ducking a clothesline and dropping The Ace with an Olympic Slam. Ace is up quickly again as Cross runs off the second turnbuckle and does a picture perfect Springboard Arm Drag. Ace is seemingly taking minimal damage from these moves as they’re both up quickly again with Cross taking him down with a Scoop Slam. Cross climbs to the top rope and comes off with Fear. Ace moves out of the way, but Cross shows cat like agility landing on his feet. He appears to have injured his leg on the landing. He bends over to tend to it and Ace, ever the opportunist, nails him with the FameAcer! He takes a bow, commemorating his own efforts before rolling Cross onto his back. 1.…….2.…….Cross rolls the left shoulder up, saving the match for himself.
Eric Hardy: “You can’t keep Cross down. He’s showing incredible heart.”
Kelly Knite: “Well I get the feeling The Ace is about to rip his heart right out. I don’t see this one lasting much longer.”
Eric Hardy: “The Ace is putting on a brutalizing performance tonight. For Cross’ sake, I hope this one doesn’t go for long.”
Kelly Knite: “I do! I love a good beating/”
The Ace lifts Cross’ head off the mat before slamming it back down. He drags the challenger to his feet and lays in a series of Knife Edge Chops to his chest, backing him up into the ropes. He sends Cross off hits him with a Jumping Knee Lift as he rebounds off the taped cables. Ace outstretches the injured right arm and drops down on it with the point of the elbow and quickly gets up to do it again. The big Brit rips his American foe up another time and underhooks both arms. He lifts Cross high up in the air in preparation for his patented Double Underhook Backbreaker, when Cross slips over the back and fires off repeated kicks to Ace’s leg, giving him what the kid’s would call a “Dead Leg.” This series of kicks sets one of Cross’ signature moves into motion, the Blood, Sweat, and Tears. Cross goes throws a boxing style left jab, connecting with the temple of the champion who wisely tries to cover up. Cross continues his string of punches by going for the right jab, seemingly forgetting his injured arm. He grasps at it in extreme pain as the Ace fires off a European Uppercut to his jaw. Cross immediately fires back with an Uppercut of his own and the two exchange Uppercut after Uppercut. Cross gains the advantage and is fired up by the crowd response. He nails another uppercut and moves in on the Ace, who pushes him away and nails him square in the face with a Superkick! Cross doesn’t budge as he lets out a primal yell as the crowd explodes. Out of nowhere Ace drills him with another Superkick, and it only seems to be firing the Virginian up even more. Cross charges with great momentum, leaping in the air for a Frankensteiner, but The Ace somehow manages to catch the superstar and plant him with a Tiger Driver! Ace does not go for the pin however and instead sits the opponent up and locks him in a Fujinami Style Dragon Sleeper. Ace has the hold locked in far enough for the ropes that Cross’ only hope is the fight his way out of it or succumb to the pressure. Ace successful traps the arm in an attempt to make survival practically impossible. As the challenger appears to be fading, our referee raises his arm once and lets it fall to the side. He yells out “ONE!” He lifts Cross’ arm for a second time, and again it falls to a resting position. “TWO!” The fans desperately start to clap, encouraging XC to show any sign of life. The man in the stripes lifts the arm for the third and final time. As the limb falls for the final time and the referee prepares to call for the bell, our potential champion manages to keep it from dropping all the way, and begins to shake it with a fervor. The people jump out of their seats in excitement as Cross tries to escape the brutalizing hold. As he starts to gain leverage and slip out of the submission maneuver, The Ace releases and delivers and elbow shot to the crown of Xavier’s head. The Ace stands up and charges off the ropes going for a death blow knee to the skull, but Cross ducks in and School Boys him for the pin. 1.…2.…The Ace breaks free and tries to stomp on Cross, who rolls out of the way. Stomp after stomp miss as Cross dodges them all in a scene eerily similar to a game of Whack-A-Mole. Xavier reaches his feet and out of sheer anger, The Ace throws an errant clothesline and is caught in the sternum by a Shoot Kick. He bends forward and is practically infused into the canvas with the always nasty Snapmare Driver! Cross ascends the turnbuckles and comes leaping off, with a Imploded 450 Splash to the champion’s back! He rolls The Ace over. 1.…..2.……Ace kicks out!
Eric Hardy: “Ace is showing some resilience of his own. Kicking out of that beautiful 450 Splash takes a lot of fortitude.”
Kelly Knite: “I wonder if these two have health insurance? They’re going to need it.”
Eric Hardy: “This just goes to show how much every match and every title mean here in New Championship Wrestling.”
Kelly Knite: “Ah….The company line. You are such a sellout Hardy.”
A top rope maneuver like that has taken a lot of Cross, as he struggles to make his next move. He grabs Ace by the leg as he prepares for the Cross Knee Lock, surprisingly Ace has this scouted and kicks Cross through the ropes, and out onto the apron. Cross leaps up onto the top rope and springboards off with a Bulldog, crushing The Ace’s face. Cross follows this up by going for the deadly Cross-Roads crossface. The Ace fights it off with some elbows to the chest as long as he can, but Cross finally slaps it on and rears back with all the power, visually hurting his own arm in the process. The official checks for the tapout as Ace reaches his lengthy arms for the ropes, but there’s little chance of him getting there. Ace uses his legs for leverage and pushes back, pushing his own body on top of Cross’ who still doesn’t release the hold. With XC’s shoulders down, the referee counts. 1.…..2.….Cross has no choice but to break the hold, stopping his own demise. Now Cross appears to be upset with the referee, allowing The Ace to recover. Cross turns around and is met with a big right hand from the champion. Cross staggers backwards. The Ace fires off another haymaker, causing Xavier’s knees to buckle. Ace sends a boot to the gut of the opponent and hooks the head before lifting him high in the air for the Jackhammer. Cross’ back ricochets off the mat and Ace looks satisfied with himself. He motions to the crowd that the end is near and they don’t respond positively. Ace lifts Xavier up and controls the arm, setting him up for the Russian Roulette! Out of nowhere, Cross turns it around and nails the Crossifixion! He pushes the carcass over and lays on top for the pin. 1.……2.……Ace gets his shoulder up right as the referee’s hand comes down for the final time. Cross is shocked when one of his finishing moves doesn’t do the job. He goes for the pin a second time. 1.…2.…Ace kicks out again. Cross steps off and looks to go for a Standing Shooting Star Press, but Ace kicks his leg out, tripping XC. The two men exchange punches as they make it to their knees, each shot rocking one another. Both reach the standing position and trade blows, this time with Cross taking control. He Irish Whips Ace towards the ropes, but Ace blocks it and sends him charging towards the referee. Xavier barely manages to avoid crashing into the official, and checks to make sure he’s ok. Ace devilishly sneaks up and low blows the challenger, sending him tumbling to the mat, holding his groin.
Eric Hardy: “Ace just blatantly cheated, and the d*mn referee couldn’t see it!”
Kelly Knite: “Cross is going to be feeling that nutshot in the morning.”
Eric Hardy: “A blow to the testicles is nothing to laugh at. It could cause permanent damage.”
Kelly Knite: “Ok Dr. Douchebag……With a potential injury like that, you know what Cross must be thinking?”
Eric Hardy: “What?”
Kelly Knite: “Thank God I’m single.”
Eric Hardy: “Now that’s just cold.”
Kelly Knite: “Sorry... couldn't resist”
The referee questions Ace as to the circumstances surrounding Xavier’s crotch clutching, but he claims to know nothing and drags Cross away from the ropes and goes for the win with a Jackknife Cover. 1.…..2.….Cross staves off defeat by rolling his shoulder off the mat. The Ace runs his hands through his hair with anger in his eyes. He paces back and forth waiting for XC to reach his fighting stance. The National Champion sneaks up behind Xavier Cross and picks him up, performing a Spinout Powerbomb into the turnbuckles. Ace retreats to the opposing corner and builds up a head of steam before charging the trapped challenger. In a last ditch effort to stop the onslaught, Cross leaps up, putting both boots into the gut of Ace, and sending himself up onto the top rope with back flip. Xavier looks somewhat surprised to find himself on the top rope, as he looks down at the hunched over Ace. He looks up to the heavens for a moment and mouths a quick personal message to his beloved wife. With his feet firmly planted on the top rope, Cross flips through the air like an acrobat and drills Ace with The End Is Near! Cross struggles to get The Ace turned over before going for the win. 1.……..2.…….3!
Amber Ashe: “Here is your winner and the NEW nCw National Champion……XAVIER CROSS!”
Xavier Cross sits up from the pin with his hands covering his face as the referee hands him his newly won title.
Eric Hardy: “Cross has done it! He slayed The Ace and won the National Title!”
Kelly Knite: “I can't believe it...**sniffle** look at that....”
Eric Hardy: “Somehow he put all of that emotion aside and managed to come out of the match holding a title. Truly inspirational.”
Kelly Knite: “sniffle”
Eric Hardy: “Lets let him have his moment. He deserves it.”
Cross stands up and lifts his victor’s prize high above his head. He points towards the sky as tears start to swell up in his eyes. He wipes his face and climbs to the top turnbuckle as the crowd is exploding in approval for the new National Champion.
